I started playing guitar when I was 12. By the age of 15 I was playing bass in a school band. We did a few charity gigs in Essex. I then took up classical guitar in earnest at uni, and loved the latin American folk songs written for guitar by guys like Barrios.
I had a few years in the wilderness music-wise, just playing by myself, but while teacher training I met a fellow trainee called Mike Foy. We had a terrific acoustic jam one night. Soon after he invited me into his solo act as bass player. We gigged for about 4 years as The Foy Boys.
Then I felt I wanted the excitement and creativity of playing in a band. So I auditioned as More Mushrooms Vicar's first and only bassist. Got the job. With them another 4 years of great creativity followed - this band played exclusively original stuff - mixture of psychedelic rock, like a fusion of U2 and Pink Floyd. I'm stll proud of the bass lines I came up with, and feel they were an integral part of the compositions, helping to shape the final version. (All the songs came out of group jams, playing around different musical ideas.)
Following that I was in a College Band for the college I work for. We did mainly free gigs for our international students on their social programme. While in the College Band I started playing for Monty's Python - a rock cover's band in Eastbourne. I'm still playing bass for them. Our most regular gig is at Mullens.
But the last 2 years I've been writing songs in earnest (solo)and recording them on my PC with Pro Tools, hopefully condensing all this musical experience into something more likely to bring rewards on a personal level, both artistic and financial (ie songwriting/publishing). I joined this site because I hope to get some songs published.So far my songs range from folk, dance, pop, rock, hard rock, MOR, RnB, ballads - pretty much any genre. The song's the thing...

Sounds like a classic blues track from the 1969
Woodstock Festival. This is a sound that bands of today try to emulate with varying success. But this track sounds like it was recorded back then !

An excellent song. Reminiscent of a song that one might find tucked away on the Beatles White Album.
