In the early 90's music was going through a metamorphosis. "Gangsta Rap" emerged in the world of Hip-Hop and new technology made way for a new breed of artists and products without a need for perfecting their craft. During this time, a young Marcus Branch (Max Pain) was busy performing with a local band that was known throughout the DC metropolitan area, fine tuning his musical skills. In another part of town, Kevin Funderburk (Misery the Don) was busy honing his craft for the microphone by battling local rappers and spending countless hours writing verses, perfecting his lyrical style. Introduced by a mutual friend, the two soon became close friends. It wasn't until one faithful night, after a show at which Marcus's band played, that the two realized that they had a common love for music. As with most "true mc's" it was a freestyle session that made the two appreciate and respect eachother's artistry in music. Thus the two came together and formed the super duo, "Misery & Pain". Together, they have given the industry a much needed breath of fresh air with their unique style and undeniable quality of their sound.
