JIMMY DON FREEMAN

I have only been writing songs for the last three years but have been in the music all my life. Momma and daddy used to sing together all the time, not perfessionally but just making music. Daddy would play the guitar and sing and momma would sing with him singing harmony. My daddy taught me how to play the guitar, the way he played it, and just playing all the time i would pick up some licks now and then. When i was about ten one of my relatives tried to teach me the steel guitar but i didn't like it at the time, boy i sure wish i had learned to play that because i love the steel. You just can't get hardly any better than that. I went into the army and was stationed in germany for about eighteen months and played in a country western band called "THE COUNTRY GENTLEMEN". We played at several army bases, usually at the NCO clubs. NCO stands for NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICERS, like sargents and privates. We opened for CHARLIE PRIDE one time at the NCO CLUB in BAUMHODER, GERMANY.
After GERMANYI went on to VIET NAM and was with the 65th engineers and then auditoned for a band with the USO and played with them for the rest of my tour, which was for about six months. Then after i got out of the army and moved back to dallas i just played around the dallas area for the last thirty years or so.
I perform at a lot of the OPRYS in the area now. I've performed at "THE COTTON PICKIN THEATRE" in POINT, TEXAS, THE WYLIE OPRY in WYLIE, TEXAS, THE IRVING OPRY in IRVING,TEXAS,THE GARLAND OPRY in GARLAND,TEXAS, and i was on "THE JOHNNY HIGH SHOW" in GRAPEVINE,TEXAS.
My influences iclude MERLE HAGGARD,WAYLON JENNINGS,GEORGE JONES,HANK WILLIAMS,JR.WILLIE NELSON,EARNST TUBB,HANK THOMPSON,BOB WILLS,DON GIBSON,and so many more that i can't name. I also admire and would love to perform with are LORETTA LYNN,PATTY LOVELESS, and many more lady singers.
