Alan Aldgate has been a cabby for 40 years, and has recently moved down to Brighton, there being even fewer all day parking spaces in Milton Keynes. He is careworn, cynical, and disconcertingly self – sufficient. Alan trusts only a few confidantes, and reacts to the violence and chaos around him with a detached nonchalance. His influence in “the manor” knows no bounds; it has made East Finchley the only part of London to be exempt from congestion charges. Although trained exclusively as a cabby (apart from a brief sojourn in the Muswell Hill Auxiliary Air Force, 666 Squadron during the Cuban missile crisis) Alan has, through a combination of fate, courage, knowledge, experience, and fierce pride in his nation, been a spy, a cabaret artist, a pilot, a detective and a statesman. "He ain't worried about anythin'" - to paraphrase the legendary Dr Martin Luther King - and his near death experiences from the subways of Manhattan to the public houses of Finchley have been the cost of his curiosity (Alan would say the reward for his courage.)

Alan Aldgate aka Nick Yeomans, The Face of Radio, (that's me folks!) writes and performs his own satirical sketches, as several characters. He is a regular on Brighton Phlux, on Radio Reverb - every Thursday - offering his cabby's wisdom on the burning issues of the day, and recites global events in the voices of Brown, Obama et al.
